Kwele ' s professional odyssey began as a junior researcher / coordinator at the Institute for Democratic Alternative in South Africa ( IDASA ). In this role , she witnessed first-hand the dynamic shifts accompanying the political transformation in South Africa .
A pivotal chapter in Lindiwe ’ s career unfolded when she joined the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of South Africa ( TRC ), which was tasked with investigating and capturing gross human rights violations during the Apartheid regime .
This experience became a poignant turning point in Lindiwe ' s life , instilling in her a profound appreciation for the sacrifices made by selfless South Africans to secure the freedom enjoyed today . Her subsequent roles spanned diverse sectors , including the CCMA , Eskom Distribution , and a brief stint at Mondi Paper in Middle Management . Lindiwe ' s career trajectory then ascended to executive positions , showcasing her leadership prowess . Her journey led her to serve in various impactful roles , including Head of Business Support Unit at Ethekwini Municipality , CEO of Durban Tourism , CEO of Joburg Tourism , Deputy City Manager at the City of Tshwane , and GCOO at the South African Post Office . Today , Lindiwe Kwele holds the esteemed position of CEO at the Gauteng Partnership Fund ( GPF ), where she continues to contribute significantly to the development and transformation of human settlements in Gauteng .
The property journey to what she considers significance , where her purpose is to meaningfully impact society , began to take shape during her tenure with the City of Durban . Here , she successfully translated their vision into tangible outputs for the city , fostering a robust economy propelled by Tourism , the Automotive Sector , Property , and Trade & Investment .
Moving forward , her trajectory led me to the City of Joburg , where she became part of an exceptional team under Mayor Masondo . The synergy was palpable , and the city experienced an upward trajectory during this time .
