As her children had all become adults , Mandiswa was determined to create a stable financial future for them , one that would not depend on her physical presence or employment .
But , like many township homeowners , she faced a daunting challenge : the high cost of property development and the lack of access to formal financing . market , making home loans more affordable . Lower rates will also reduce the financial burden on landlords with mortgages , improving overall profitability in the rental sector .
Frustrations Mandiswa wanted to build backyard flats to generate rental income for her retirement and to set up her family for the future . However , she lacked the financial resources and technical expertise to embark on such a project . Without the capital to fund construction and the knowledge to navigate the legal and technical requirements of property development , her dream felt far out of reach .
Solution In 2022 , Mandiswa partnered with Bitprop , embarking on a transformative 10-year journey to turn her property into a long-term income-generating asset . Under the terms of the partnership , she would receive 15 % of the gross rental income from the newly developed units . The additional income would help cover everyday expenses , such as groceries and municipal bills .
What ’ s more , after 10 years , the entire rental income would be hers , enabling her to run the property as a sustainable business . This not only promised a steady income stream for her family but also the flexibility and financial independence to manage her time as an entrepreneur .
