Renewable energy solutions need to be understood in terms of how they can best meet the consumption needs of a property . As we know , renewables cannot provide energy 24 hours a day . They also need to be constantly maintained , which is an additional cost , and they need to be supported by back-up power in the form of batteries . And , what works for one property may not work for another .

Tips to make your property energy efficient within your means
• Start buying LED bulbs for the house
• Shower instead of bathing , this saves water and energy
• Install a gas stove or buying / renting a freestanding one
• Turn geysers , lights and unused appliances off as much as possible
• Install a gas geyser
• Consider appliance upgrades to more energy efficient ones ( ratings range from A to G )
• Consider smart plugs and using an associated app
