Nappies Distributor – Here , Jack operated as a wholesaler , supplying small shops and kiosks in the townships with their nappy supply .
Chicken Farmer – With no knowledge about the chicken farming industry , Jack started a chicken farm . “ I didn ’ t know anything about those feathered little creatures , but it was a lucrative business , and I did well until it went wrong , and I lost R5 million .”
Any amount of money lost in a business is very important , considering Jack ’ s background and the meaning of his strides to him and his family , no amount should be lost , no matter the situation . The amount lost in the business ( R5 million ) was another stressful time for him . He kept asking himself , “ how will this shape my dreams , future , and legacy that I was so passionate about building ?”
Gold on the Horizon “ After the chicken business went bust , I began to explore opportunities in the property investment sector . I did an online course through Legacy Education and I received coaching from the dynamic , passionate and innovative entrepreneur , Andrew Walker .”
Andrew Walker is the founder and CEO of the SA Property Investor Network ( SAPIN ) and the brainchild of the Investor of the Year Awards .
As Jack was making his way into the industry under Walker ’ s supervision and coaching , he learned that investing in property does not need a mass amount of capital and that there are many different ways in which you can approach property investment .
From Introvert to Networking Guru Jack joined forces with SAPIN just when the organisation was picking up its momentum . He was introverted and struggled networking , which is what is at the heart of SAPIN . Jack learned about the skill of networking after digesting two books on networking , he says this was a means to shape his future . “ This approach prepared me for the networking meetings that followed ,” he said .
Of the many people who have played a role in shaping Jack ’ s future within the property industry , The Property Coach , Carlo Mariani ' s success in the property sector has also been mentioned to have had a positive impact in his success .
Winning the Investor of the Year Award in 2019 After gaining a wealth of experience and building my network through the SA Property Investor ’ s Network , Jack together with his partner Retha van Rooyen , decided to focus on building a property business now named M5 Property Addicts .
