When Real Estate Investor ( REI )
embarked on our educational journey with REI magazine and events company launched back in 2007 our goal was simple . We wanted to help as many people as possible experience financial independence through best practice in property investment . We started providing impactful real estate education content , underpinned by sound financial principles alongside credible partners for property ownership as the cornerstone of personal wealth .
At REI we identified three key investment pillars in the investors journey : getting started , getting smarter and getting savvy . To accommodate these principles REI changed our content platforms , magazine and website to highlight those three critically important pillars .
The first level getting started is about setting your goals , breaking it down into steps , identifying where the knowledge gaps and obstacles are and taking action . Mark Twain famous novelist , journalist , lecturer , entrepreneur and inventor put it in another way when he said , “ The secret of getting ahead is getting started . The secret of getting started is breaking your complex , overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks , and then starting on the first one .”
The next level getting smarter is something that is grown and cultivated often by being curious enough to seek out new information and recognising what you don ’ t already know . It is the ability to put ideas together , focus on them , communicate it and create solutions to the problems that you are faced with .
Getting savvy is when you describe someone you think has a good understanding and practical knowledge of something . It is a compliment if we describe someone as having the attribute of business savvy as it demonstrates someone at the peak of their game . It shows having perception , comprehension or even shrewdness in practical matters .
The real estate investment journey of making money is a narrative of having both breakthroughs and setbacks while maintaining a positive and abundant mindset no matter what the results are . Real estate investing for wealthy and savvy investors , is mostly on a level of extreme emotional pursuits between investor swing moods driving the market . When emotions run high it can drive market sentiment , but can also bring more risk . That ’ s why the need to have a purpose , stay hungry , be humble and creative to achieve above market average
