Recipes for Romance from Reader’s Rock Magazine
My husband and I dated since we were
sixteen. Money wasn't always there for
elaborate gifts on Christmas and birthdays,
or Valentine's Day. The best gifts my
boyfriend/future husband ever gave me
were things he made himself. We spent a
lot of time just hanging out at my parents'
house, watching TV. A lot of the time when
he came over for the evening, I would still be indulging in a bath,
and the poor guy had to sit and wait for me to be finished.

One Valentine's Day, I came home from my part-time job, and he
was already at the house, to my great surprise. He led me straight to
the bathroom, where he'd already set up a bubble bath for me. On
the water floated Styrofoam hearts and Cupid Arrows that he must
spent all day cutting out and painting. He sat and visited with my
parents while I got to soak in a wonderful bath. He was my hero
when we were teenagers, and he's still my hero all these years later.
Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about expensive gifts. It's those
little personal gestures that show we care about the person we love.
A little creativity goes a long way.
