Readers Rock – January 2014
Readers,
It is my privilege to bring you info
throughout 2014 regarding some
fantastic books being produced in the
Maryland area by some great authors.
It is so exciting. There will also be
interesting stories from friends around
the country who are also making an
effort to write books, presenting and
promoting specific messages and
supporting very worthy causes.
To make this column special, and to
make it more attuned to the
readership, your input will be quite
helpful. I ask that you contact me with
your likes and dislikes, you wants and
needs. I enjoy writing so I will gladly
scour my contacts for information that
will be helpful to you. It also, of
course, helps the writer to know a bit
more about their individual audience.
So…
People reading this wonderful new
online magazine:
1) Are you mostly readers? OR, mostly,
writers?
2) Are you mostly a younger, middle or
older generation?
3) Are you looking for mostly family
oriented reading material, adventure,
sex and romance, or the how-to books?
OR, are you into the sci-fi, vampire,
monster type thrillers? Poems?
Memoirs?
Honestly, the various authors and
writers groups I attend have something
for everyone to enjoy. And I have
enjoyed spreading my wings to read a
variety of genres to get to better know
and understand the participants in the
Perfect Authors Meet-up, the Shut-Up-
And-Write group, the I-Write-To-Inspire
group and others.
The year 2013, for me, was truly an
amazing year for connecting and
collaborating within the world of
writing! There was no indication in
2012 that I would decide to write
books about the environment; or, that I
would finally publish my first book of
poems. Can you even imagine that a
medical issue would land someone in
bed for months during which time six
books would be drafted, edited and
prepared for publishing?
During that five month, stay put era, it
is hard to conceive that I would also
connect with a young, very talented
artist who would jump at the
opportunity to illustrate a book for me
and that we would get it to print in just
a few months. To make the experience
even more awesome, a world-win tour
was organized for the artist to travel
4,000 miles from Scotland to the
United States to help launch that book.
“Why did my dad get cancer?” is a
children's book to open the door to
discussion between children whose
parent has cancer and adults in the
lives of these children. The topic is
one we don't often think about – or at
least, wish we didn't have to think
about.
Yes, 2013 was quite an unusual year
and 2014 is off to a challenging start.
Will the second Anna's Journey book
get finished? Will the next set of
“Mitzy, the Butterfly” books be
published? Will these books along with
the next book of poetry help to make a
difference for the organizations who
will receive all or part of the proceeds?
Challenging. Exciting. Unbelievable.
I'm not sure I can even express
effectively how I feel with what stands
before me. I hope all the readers will
visit my inbox on my website
(www.annarenault.com); communicate
your wishes for article content; and of
course, if you happen to read any of my
books, you will also give me a quick
review . I'll be looking forward to your
input. Happy New Year, Anna
