Write or Read, a New Site That Helps Writers and Readers Create Better Books

Subscription services are all the
rage this year, and a new
initiative, Write or Read, aims to
help writers and readers forge a
closer relationship. Writer and ebook developer Sabrina Ricci
founded the site writeorread.com
to provide valuable metrics to
authors in order to boost their
chances of success.
"I want to help authors know what
happens after they hit the publish
button,” Ricci said. “Write or
Read's goal is to make data
accessible to all authors, and to
make it easy to directly connect
writers with readers," Ricci said.
The site welcomes books, poems,
articles, short stories, and more,
giving readers flexibility to
choose what they want to read.
Currently in open beta, Write or
Read needs to raise at least
$10,000 on the crowdfunding site
RocketHub by November 27 to
fully launch. In exchange for
funds, the site is offering stickers,
t-shirts, and even helpful courses
on how to make e-books.
“Our next steps are to implement
key features to make it even easier
for writers to publish,” Ricci said.
“This includes allowing authors to
crowdsource copy-editing, letting
readers rate books and message
writers, supporting EPUB3 books
with audio and video, and having
the ability to read offline.”

better, more direct connection
between writers and readers. The
