This book was inspired by the Standard 1, 2 & 3 students of Guayaguayare R.C. School as part of the Bridge Foundation’s Read to Rise Programme with collaborative institutional partner, The University of the West Indies Department of Creative and Festival Arts. The University of West Indies Department of Creative Arts students are referenced in the book as either “authors or contributors” to the Read to Rise Books who regularly met with primary school students participating in the Bridge Foundation Read to Rise Programme to develop Read to Rise children’s books. Primary school students provided a diversity of images, illustrations, ideas, concepts and/or stories of their experiences or favourite characters including distinct community facts to make the Read to Rise book come alive for young children their age.
