There is a deep peace within the soul that helps provide us the strength to love ourselves through the darkest of nights. However, are you even listening? Our souls are meant to love; they are meant to play, explore and shine. We are born in the purest form of the divine: giggles of soul sunshine.

From my standpoint, we go from an infant bundle of limitless joy to what I’ll refer to as a being of controlled power. We learn how to be good girls/boys from our parents/families and our family beliefs and patterns are established. Each moment of our life, we lose who we truly are as we move further from that bundle of limitless joy and our most authentic soul.

Are you the one in the family that does not fit in? If so, I’d like to suggest that you were born into a family that you were sent to heal. Oftentimes such a family is unaware of this precious gift from God. The parent force is one of power and control. My family’s favorite phrase was “sit down and shut up”; evidently at one point I was sent to etiquette school to help calm the “wildness” inside of me. I was not “wild,” I was free; I simply did not accept some of society’s (and therefore my family’s) rules.

Who cares if I was wearing white after Labor Day or the intolerance that my sensitive body could not endure from the scratchy stockings of the 1970’s. In my family’s eyes, it was more acceptable for me to be miserable, than comfortable. “We are simple folk, and you are drawing way too much attention.” They were trying to quietly survive, they believed that you should “Keep your head down, get the work done and live to survive another day.”

Enter a sweet, playful, singing wisp of a freely, moving firespout with an internal amount of love that could surprise the masses.

What I loved about myself, was slowly “picked away” like one would pick a scab. “Shut Up!” Pick, “Sit Down!” Pick, “What are you WEARING!” Pick, “What is wrong with you?” Pick. Enter in the egotistical confusion of a loss of power to gain control. In truth, that is what it is about, control. Yet, when one is controlled, one is not being allowed to express their Soul’s Love; this is the reason for a lack of Self-Love.
