we had been well looked after and we
were ready for the festive season.
I usually get through the bleakness of
January by way of planning holidays
and trips for the following months. I
constantly research online looking for
a good deal for our next trip away or
holiday abroad. During February Alan
received an email from the staff at Leeds
Castle offering us a good deal for a
return visit to the Castle but this time we
would be Knights Glamping. We chose
the end of April to try out Glamping
hoping for reasonable weather to enjoy
this outdoor pursuit. We both love the
outdoors and we are seasoned campers
but we had never been Glamping. The
thought of not having to pack the car
up and put the tent up and take the tent
down was very appealing.
Leeds Castle offers Glamping from April
to October, there are 8 luxury tents.
They all have wood burners and a four
poster bed with beautiful white linen
bedding together with a throw, a flask
and tea and coffee making facilities.
The showers are in the house at the
top and there is also a barbecue area
for all to use. The staff members are on
hand to help 24/7 and live in the house
94
but allow visitors to use their kitchen, to
use the kettle, to fill up flasks and use of
the fridge. As our visit was early in the
season we decided not to make use of
the barbecue facilities and ventured off the
castle grounds to The George Inn in the
Village. This was a pleasant 15 min walk to
a very busy well run pub serving excellent
food. A few pints of real ale and a couple
of glasses of wine were enjoyed, followed
by a lovely Sunday afternoon lunch before
returning to the luxury of Glamping. The
weather had improved during the day and
we were able to sit outside our tent to
enjoy cheese and biscuits before retiring to
our four poster bed and the warmth of the
wood burner.
Knights Glamping even offers room
service and the next morning our breakfast
was delivered by a member of staff; this
consisted of a flask of tea and a choice of
croissants or a bacon baguette. As with
the bed and breakfast accommodation
after checking out you can stay at the
castle for a second day. Leeds Castle
is definitely the loveliest Castle I have
ever visited and the staff were so friendly
and knowledgeable. I wonder what
accommodation we will choose next!
