New starters ANNIKA MASON HAMED OVAISI CHRISTINA SPENCER “I recently joined the Clinical Negligence team at the Eastbourne office working as a Paralegal. I have really enjoyed my first four weeks with MWB and I am looking forward to getting involved with future firm events. Before joining Mayo Wynne Baxter I completed a forensic science degree but decided to convert to law in 2009. I completed both the GDL and LPC at the University of Law in London. After completing these courses I spent time with a city law firm as a Paralegal in their civil litigation department. I joined the firm's commercial department as a solicitor in November 2013. I work on all aspects of business sales and purchases specialising in high street businesses and dental practices. I also advise on commercial property matters including landlord and tenant, lease matters and purchases and sales of commercial property. I recently joined the Probate, Trusts and Wills team in Brighton as a Trainee Solicitor. Before joining I studied Law with Business at Brighton University and then took a gap when I travelled most of the countries in South America and also spent 6 months in France as a rep in a ski resort. Away from the office I’m a keen footballer and have played at a senior level for many local clubs. In addition, I enjoy cooking, culture and travel. I am a student of French and take lessons in the hope that one day I may be able to string a whole sentence together! When it was time to get back down to earth, I got my first grown-up job working as a Legal Advisor at the local authority, which is where I stayed for three years and is where I began as a Trainee Solicitor. I completed the LPC part-time, graduating over the summer and then moved my training contract to Mayo Wynne Baxter, where I am now due to qualify as a Solicitor in September of this year. Outside of work I like to travel (when funds permit!) to new places on my very long list of places I would like to see. I also enjoy photography and running along Eastbourne seafront when it’s not raining!” 20 Having grown up in a family business environment in Eastbourne I hope to bring a commercial approach to my role as a lawyer, which has resulted in a loyal following among the business community in Eastbourne and beyond.” Outside work I enjoy skiing, cooking and training in martial arts, as well as generally getting as much exercise as time allows.
