Welcome
We finally saw some sun during the summer months but now as we move into autumn I am pleased to give you our most ambitious issue to date. This bumper edition is over 50% bigger than previous issues and it is packed with some great articles. I hope that you will join me in giving a warm welcome to our new deputy editor, Liza Laws, who joined the Re: team back in July. Liza is a journalist by trade and has worked on many of the region’s newspapers and some of the nationals too. We have dumped her straight in at the deep end and I’m pleased to say she has got stuck in. I now have someone to blame for any typos. We’ve met some really interesting characters including kids TV presenter Sid Sloane who was a whirlwind of infectious energy. The interview lasted a mammoth three hours and we ended up with over 32,000 words. Editing that down was no easy feat and I have definitely earned my wages this issue. Huge thanks to the guys at the Grand Hotel in Brighton who kindly let us use their magnificent hotel for our photo shoot. We also caught up with Cheryl Baker at a rehearsal studio near Sevenoaks where she was directing a new production of Grease for Bullfrog Productions. She is a warm genuine person and it is easy to see how she has become one of the nation’s favourites. In the interview
she shared her memories of the late great Roy Castle and at one point her emotions poured out. International best-selling author Peter James has also written a piece for us about his involvement with The Reading Agency, a charity close to his heart. As if that wasn’t enough celebs for of one issue we have also persuaded TV’s Ben Hillman to write a regular interior design feature for us. Ben has just finished filming 60 Minute Makeover with Peter Andre and his first piece is all about shiny walls. We have the usual mix of stories about the laws that could affect you or your business and a great insight into Peggy Hall who heads up the Probate, Trusts and Wills department. I hope that you enjoy this issue and as always I’d love to hear what you think of Re: Magazine so please drop me a line at [email protected] Best wishes
