Scott purchased the Schiada in 2000 from the second owner whom had the boat for over 25 years! The boat was in great shape and is the definition of the fairy tale "Barn Find" story. The boat featured the original 1961 Pontiac 389 Engine, with a Casale Top Loader V-Drive. It was in such great shape that Scott ran the boat for a full two seasons before he decided to tear it down and create what is arguably one of the cleanest wood deck flat bottoms in the world.
Scott was determined for perfection, and nothing less would suit. Life, as it often does, put some delays in the project, and from initial tear down until perfection it took over twelve years! He had a clear vision of what he wanted, which was a very heavy late 50's early 60's HotRod / Indy car influence in the rigging as opposed to a typical early 60's marine installation. He turned to Prime Marine and working along side legendary west coast riggers Mike Ramirez and Mike King, they went right past nostalgia into "Historic Custom." As with anything that had to do with racing in that era,
lightening holes were an important part
of the look. This boat sports over 500
lightening holes in the rigging throughout
the boat! It should be noted that Scott
isn't just a checkbook boater though! He
himself was responsible some of the
fabrication, and all of the paint work that
went into this masterpiece.
