In 2021 we saw record price growth across Australia , and this has seen an influx of shorter-term investors enter the market to take advantage of the favourable conditions . As we see the market start to slow down , we review how the last few years have fared for the intrepid house-flipper .
If we include the national price for houses for the same period , including those that weren ’ t flip sales , the median is $ 30,000 more expensive , and grew 17 per cent in price , outpacing flipper price growth significantly .
Among units , we saw the highest profitability in flips made in 2013 , with a median profit of $ 50,000 representing a seven per cent profit . Units in the flipper category appeared to be slightly higher in price , showing that the investor class in units often can afford better than entry level properties .
