For Sri Lankans, Dandu Monara was actually an air plane that carried Ravana to distant corners of the world. To reach Ravana caves, if you come from train you must get down from Ella rail way station. Then you must reach to Binna-Ella along the Wellawaya road to the Ravana Raja Maha viharaya. If you come from your own vehicle you can easily reach near to Ravana Raja Maha viharaya. From there you can take the small road which leads to Ravana cave. It takes a 3035minits walk to reache the cave. This is a good place for the tourists who like to do Hiking. This is a place where you can do adventure tourism and cave tourism at once. People say that the ravana cave which we are mentioning is consisted of ancient paintings which believed to be done in the time of King Walagamba. But this cave does not consist any paintings. The paintings which people talk about are in the Temple of Ravana Raja Maha wiharaya. Some people mis-lead it as there are so many places related to Ravana tale all over sri lanka. Though, there are many places famous because of Ravana tale, this cave which is located near ravana raja maha viharaya is still unknown to the both Sri Lankan and foreign tourists. But this place has a potential to be developed as a tourist attarction point in Ella area because still some Indians believe this place as the landing port of Dadumonara. So there is a huge possibity to develop this place as a lesser known tourism attraction in Sri Lanka.
