MESSAGE FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
To start this season’s new theme - SYSTEM (2019/20), RAW
Moves is proud to present Nabilah Said, a celebrated
Singaporean playwright.
Establishing the initial investigation into human connection
and fragility of one-sided communications, Ghost Call
gradually morphs into multi-layers of real and simulated
worlds of fabricated relationships in modern life.
Today, as we stride towards becoming a smart nation
that embraces technological innovations, could we also
question ourselves truthfully about this new phase of
building ‘relationships’ through social media platforms? Or
could we also assess the values of connectedness and/or
disconnectedness through different modes of communication?
Nonetheless, what happens should a ‘ghosting’ surface in our
everyday conversations? Will such a shift in discourse produce
unsettlement in oneself? Or have we acquired the skill to
monitor our socialising system in response to people and
situations?
In short, Ghost Call is more than just the ‘invisible’… Or, could
it just be another social evolution in human relationship?
