Homosexual rights seem to be a far cry when even two straight people can’t get married without any hungama (commotion) just because they either belong from different religions or different levels of society and at times as silly as because people are judged on basis of looks and income. A girl is questioned about her character far more than a guy will be if she/he is too bold or has too many opposite gender friends. Where as in some states of our country child marriage is still a major issue being ignored and here is our government putting a ban on homosexual relationships. Barriers are not completely useless, they show us our limits they help us building our society and culture but these barriers should not be used as a weapon to stop us from moving ahead to be a powerful world. Or stop an individual from living his life the way he/she wants to. Imagine a country with no laws and regulation, a place where it’s “OK” to do as you will that leads to destruction and no development. No one would want to live in such a world. We all are mature enough, responsible enough to know what could be beneficial for ourselves and our country and this society, and it is definitely not banning LGBT community or judging people without knowing them and allowing corruption and child marriages, child molestation, and rape cases. This New Year be a different person, stand up for what you feel is right and wrong and let’s not be influenced without any full knowledge of a situation. Don’t be bounded, be an empowered society aware about our rights. Be confident and free to pursue your real self. Bob Marley quoted that “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” - Mauwiya Mashayak 40
