He then talked about the rampant corruption plaguing the government sector in India and
requested us to not support or allow it to spread further. According to him, this corruption is rusting
our country from the core, and looking at the condition of our country, our freedom fighters would
cry in anguish and pain. And we, as the youth of this nation, hold the power to stop it.
He then reminiscences about the past, how he lost his leg during a bombing in Amritsar in
1992, and how he survived a deadly attack on his life in 1993. After these experiences, he decided
to fully devote himself to the service of this country. He had the option to continue pursuing his
career as a minister, and a chance to become home minister of Punjab, but the deep corruption in
the governance prevented him from going down that path. He went ahead and became the chief of
Indian Youth Congress and started his work towards the goal of wiping out terrorism from our
beloved country.
He single-handedly took bold steps to strengthen our Anti-terrorist services, which led to him
becoming the chairman of All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF). He also helped the widows of the
Kargil War and various other terrorist bombings that took place throughout the country. He has
done unmatched work to prevent and counter various terrorism attempts in our country. And he did
all of this not for the sake of profit, status or fame, but for the love of this country and his fellow
countrymen.
A strong personality and bold words did not fail to mesmerize the students of our college,
and most of us felt inspired and proud at the end of his speech. And as he continues to serve our
country with all his might, we cannot help but give him our best wishes so that he continues to work
towards keeping those pesky terrorists out of our country and help strengthen our resolve.
And as he requested, we should try our hardest to do the same. Every one of us has the ability
to bring about changes in the system, and Maninderjeet Singh Bitta surely did not fail to point this
out to us. Inspire
and be inspired,
because if not us,
who else is there
to do it?
