Support Sqns . From then the Squadron has recruited reservists across a range of trades and branches including MT Driver , RAF Police , Intelligence , Media , and Human Resources .
Sqn personnel have mobilised in support of RAF operations including ASOTIZE , SHADER and PITTING .
In 2020 and 2021 , personnel deployed to form Mobile Testing Units in support of Op RESCRIPT . Other 614 Sqn members supported the Welsh Ambulance Trust and the roll-out of the coronavirus vaccine in Wales .

622 Sqn was formed from ‘ C ’ Flight , No XV Sqn , on 10th August 1943 , at RAF Mildenhall , Suffolk . No . 622 Sqn was to be a two-flight sqn with an establishment of sixteen Short Stirling bombers available , and a further four in reserve .
The first appointed CO was Wing Commander George Gibson , DFC . The Sqn was granted a badge , which took the form of a long-eared owl volant affrontee , carrying a flash of lightning in its talons . The adopted motto was ‘ Bellamus Noctu ’ ( We Wage War by Night ). During December 1943 , the Sqn converted to Avro Lancaster bombers .
Having undertaken numerous operations against enemy targets , at the end of World War Two 622 Sqn participated in both ‘ Manna ’ ( food dropping ) operations and ‘ Exodus ’ ( repatriation of former prisoners of war back to the U . K .) missions . Following the cessation of hostilities , 622 Sqn was disbanded in August 1945 . Op Manna
In December 1950 , 622 Sqn was resurrected in the transport role , flying Vickers Valetta aircraft , as part of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force based at Blackbushe , Hampshire ; it was disbanded at the end of September 1953 .
During its time as a Royal Auxiliary Air Force Sqn , 622 conveyed troops , passengers , freight , and equipment to numerous locations around the United Kingdom , Europe , and the Middle East .
In 1994 the Sqn was reformed as 1359 Flt operating on the C130s at RAF Lyneham until 2011 , when flying at RAF Lyneham ceased . The Sqn relocated to RAF Brize Norton , and in 2012 it was again granted Sqn status as 622 ( Reserve ) Sqn . Today it currently operates as a Reserve Aircrew and Flying Support Sqn , with personnel on all Air Mobility platforms as well supporting the Station .
