Assessing soil pH Get a small sample of soil at 5-10cm deep and place it on the test card or a flat surface. 1 3 Dust the reagent powder onto the sample. Do not mix. Leave it for a minute then evaluate the results against the Colour Chart. Use full light. This will indicate the pH of the soil. 4 2 Squirt on indicator dye and mix well with soil if needed. The sample should be wet, but not sloppy. Scoring soil pH Score results using the table below: Results Between 5 and 5.5 Between 8 and 8.5 Moderate Above 5.5 or below 8.0 Between 6 and 7.5 Scoring guide Under 5 Above 8.5 Poor Good Very good Score 0 1 2 3 Write the soil pH score on the Bullseye Score Card and fill in the bullseye.
