RAPPORT
Volume 3 Issue 1 (2018)
median (65.5%) is also within the median
range (57% - 71%) for each year since
2011. In 2018, the maximum overall
student grade was 90%, which was the
highest maximum grade since 2011.
Step 4: Evaluate (2) Evaluating the e-
portfolio as Assessment FOR Learning
If the e-portfolios were more successful in
assessment FOR learning, our hypothesis
was that students’ grades in their
reflective learning journals would improve.
Therefore, a drill down into results for the
different strands of assessment should
indicate if this is the case.
Overall, the difference in students’
average grade in 2017 was 64%, while in
2018 it was 65%, an increase in the
overall student average of 1%. This
appears to slightly support the above
hypothesis.
Students’ average grade for the reflective
learning journal, based on the same
exercises in both years, was higher in
2018 (68%) than in 2017 at (64.8%),
which indicates that students performed
slightly better in the reflective journal
exercises using e-portfolios, again
suggesting that the hypothesis is slightly
supported.
