JAGUARS DONATE $1 MILLION TO HURRICANE IRMA RELIEF EFFORTS
Hurricane Irma packed a punch as she made
landfall in Northeast Florida on Sept. 10.
The team remained on the road a day after
their Week 1 win at the Houston Texans. The
banks of the St. Johns River overfl owed and
many on the First Coast were in the dark
following high winds and fl ooding.
However, the Jaguars and the Jacksonville
community came back swinging, as Owner
Shad Khan kicked off the rebuilding process
just two days later.
On Sept. 12, Jaguars President Mark Lamping
was joined by Jacksonville Mayor Lenny
Curry for a press conference to announce the
team’s $1 million donation to Florida’s First
Coast Relief Fund and a donation of 5,000
game tickets to local fi rst responders and
citizens. Khan also issued a personal appeal
to the Jacksonville corporate community
ahead of the team’s home opener to join the
recovery effort.
