Prince II
PRINCE II methodology is a “full stack” Waterfall project management methodology
that comprises principles, themes and processes. It was created by the UK government
in 1996 for the use in IT projects. The acronym PRINCE2 stands for PRojects IN
Controlled Environments. PRINCE II is a process-oriented methodology, which divides
projects into several stages, each stage with their own plans and processes to follow.
This methodology delineates inputs and outputs for each stage of a project so that
nothing is left to chance.
There are 7 steps in the Prince II methodology, these are:
1. Start up the project
2. Initiate the project
3. Direct the project
4. Control stages
5. Manage product delivery
6. Manage stage boundary
7. Close the project
