Latest News | 19 Railways NCRTC Aligns Meerut Metro’s North-South Corridor With Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor The NCRTC (National Capital Regional Transport Corporation) has aligned Meerut Metro’s North-South Corridor with RRTS network of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut that will save Rs 6,300 crore of the public exchequer. Earlier, as per Detailed Project Report of Meerut Metro, the original estimated cost for Corridor-I from Partapur to Modipuram was Rs 8,388 crore. More Information: • • • NCRTC said in a release,”Under the new plan, since this Metro line is parallel to RRTS network of Delhi- Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, UP government has accepted the proposal of NCRTC, and asked it to run this metro line on RRTS ( Regional Rail Transit System) network itself by doing necessary modifications.” It said, it will not only help the government save over Rs 6,300 crore but also decongest the heavy road traffic on the 90-km long stretch between Delhi & Meerut. NCRTC, which is the executing agency, will add 6 stations on its existing alignment exclusively for metro operations in Meerut. India Hands Over 18 Diesel-Electric Locomotive To Myanmar Railways, Completing First Project Under Current Indian Line of Credit India on Monday handed over the 18th diesel-electric locomotive to Myanmar, thereby completing the first project under the current Indian line of credit (LoC) to the eastern neighbour. More Information: • About The Locomotives- • • • • • These 18 locos are fitted with the microprocessor control based system. 1350 HP AC/DC main line diesel locomotives with a maximum speed of 100 kmph have been customised for the Myanmar Railways, built by Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi. They are also extremely fuel-efficient and equipped with the latest features. Most of these supplies in the railway sector have been carried out under Indian Line of Credit. • Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain attended the formal handing over ceremony of 18th AC-DC 1350 HP diesel-electric locomotive to Myanmar Railways, supplied by RITES and manufactured by DLW. RITES Limited, a PSU of the Ministry of Railways, is a principal partner of the Myanmar Railways. Speaking at the occasion, Gohain expressed satisfaction on the close cooperation between the two railway systems on regular basis since last 20 years. L&T Bags Order Of Rs 2,864 Crore From DFCCIL For Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor New Delhi: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today said its construction has bagged an order of Rs 2,864 crore from the DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd.) for Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. L&T said in a BSE filing,”The railways strategic business unit of L&T Constructions transportation infrastructure business has signed a major contract worth Rs 2,864 crore with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL).” The scope of work includes- • Construction of single railway track including yards • 75 major & 588 minor bridges • 1 rail over bridge modification • 4 rail flyovers • 21 stations along with construction of all associated works About The Order- • • • www.railanalysis.com part of the 1,856 km Eastern Corridor proposed between Ludhiana (Punjab) and Dankuni (West Bengal), L&T said. The order involves construction of 222 kilometer route of a single-track corridor from Khurja to Pilkhani in Uttar Pradesh. It added,”This is Larsen & Toubro’s first EPC civil, structure and track project in the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. In the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, L&T already has a share of 71 per cent in the civil packages and 100 per cent share in the electrical packages.” This project will be funded by World Bank (WB) and is a www.railanalysis.com
