Overall 21 in. x 29 ½ in. 304. BRITISH SAILOR’S WOOLWORK OF THE H.M.S. ORION, circa 1860, applied along lower margin with legend H.M.S. Orion 91 Guns, hand painted in gold on blue silk HATBAND in period rosewood frame with gilt slip. 17 ¾ in. x 21 ¼ in. Overall 24 in. x 27 ¼ in. Note: Named after the giant huntsman of Greek mythology, Orion served in the Baltic Sea after being completed at Chatham Dockyard in 1854.
