artist board, signed lower left Nelson White, 24. 9 ½ in. x 13 ½ in.
White was an active member of the Old Lyme Art Colony from 1950 to 1985. He studied at the
Art Student’s League in New York with Kenyon Cox and George DeForest Brush. White exhibited
at the American Watercolor Society, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the National Academy
of Design. His work can be found in the collection of the Florence Griswold Museum, Lyme
Historical Society, Lyman Allyn Museum, New Britain Museum of American Art, Mattatuck
Museum of the Mattatuck Historical Society, and the Wadsworth Athenaeum Museum of Art.
