paper, initialed lower right TA, original printed and hand written label on the reverse
“Boston Society of Watercolor Painter”. 18 in. x 27 in.
Born in St. Louis, MO, Allen Jr. was known for painting landscape and animal subjects. He settled
in Boston where he chaired the faculty of the Boston Museum School of Drawing and Painting and
became president of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He exhibited at the Paris Salon, National
Academy of Design, Boston Art Club and the Art Institute of Chicago.
