Born in Medford, MA, Thompson’s main artistic influence was Edmund C. Tarbell with whom he
studied at Boston’s Museum School, before continuing his studies at the Massachusetts Normal Art
School. Member of the National Academy of Design and the Guild of Boston Artists, his awards
include a bronze medal at the St. Louis 1904 Exposition, the 3rd Hallgarten Prize, and the Purchase
Prize at the Boston Art Club.
