The specialisation of RAF Vehicle & Mechanical Equipment Technician , also known as General Technician ( Mechanical ) is part of the Engineering Profession within the RAF , which also includes Engineer Officer AeroSystems , Aircraft Technician ( Avionics ), Aircraft Technician ( Mechanical ), RAF Electrician , General Technician Workshops , Weapon Technician and Survival Equipment Specialist .
Professions in the RAF are distinct areas of defence expertise where common skills and attributes are required to deliver on demand . Whilst Service Personnel can expect to spend the majority of their career in their chosen Specialisation they may be employed in any of the Specialisations within their Profession : this will depend upon aptitude , qualifications , career aspirations and the Service need .
