RADON RIVALS STEMM PROJECTS

Welcome to the Radon Rivals STEMM Project—an exciting adventure where science meets superhero action! As future scientists, engineers, and health experts, you're about to embark on a mission to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing our communities: radon gas.

Radon gas might seem like a mysterious foe, but fear not! With the power of STEMM knowledge and teamwork, we can become Radon Rivals and protect our homes and schools from this invisible threat. Here's how our project works:

1.Science: Radon is a byproduct of uranium decay, and it can seep into buildings through cracks and gaps in the ground. By understanding the science behind radon, we can learn how it behaves and why it's important to keep it in check.

2.Technology: We'll use radon testing kits to measure the levels of radon in our homes and schools. These kits are like our scientific tools, helping us gather data and identify areas where radon might be sneaking in.

3.Engineering: Once we've identified areas with high radon levels, it's time to put our engineering skills to work! We'll brainstorm creative solutions for radon mitigation, like sealing cracks, improving ventilation, or even designing radon-resistant buildings.

4.Mathematics: Radon levels are measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L), and there are recommended guidelines set by the EPA for safe levels of radon exposure. We'll use math to analyze our test results and determine if action is needed to reduce radon levels.

5.Medicine: Did you know that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer? By spreading awareness and taking proactive measures to reduce radon exposure, we're also promoting public health and saving lives.

But our Radon Rivals project isn't just about learning—it's about making a difference! Through hands-on activities, like testing our own homes and schools for radon, and spreading awareness in our communities, we're taking real-world action to protect ourselves and others from radon-related health risks.

So gear up, STEMM superheroes! Together, we'll use our knowledge

and skills to defeat the villainous radon and ensure a safer, healthier future for all."

By framing this initiative as a STEMM project, it emphasizes the inter- disciplinary nature of the Radon Rivals mission and highlights the practical applications of science and technology in addressing real-world indoor air challenges.
