was found to be slightly higher than the global average value . The activity concentration of primordial radionuclides increases with a decrease in grain size . The activity concentration of 226 Ra and 232 Th decreases with an increase in depth . However , 40 K activity concentration is independent of depth . The average radium equivalent activity values due to radionuclides present in the soil were found to be less than the maximum criterion limit of 370 Bq kg 1 , and the average values of radiological hazard indices are well within the safe limit ( 1 ). Finally , it is concluded that the radiation emitted from the radionuclides present in the soil samples of the study area does not pose any radiological health hazard to the public in and around the study area .
