FISH
Do the Pacific Ocean’s fish and other aquatic life show signs of radioactivity?
Researchers have shown evidence that Pacific Bluefin tuna (pictured at right) have transported radioactive fallout from Fukushima across the entire North Pacific Ocean. Because Tuna migrate from Japan to California, radioactivity can definitely be found in the tuna fished along California’s coast. The Fukushima accident caused a 10-fold spike in radioactive cesium levels in tuna, but there were already levels of radioactivity in fish even before that. This was caused by sunken nuclear submarines, thermonuclear weapons tests, and radioactive elements found naturally throughout the earth’s crust.
