Radiation Protection Today Summer 2021 | Page 3

Welcome to our New Magazine It has been over 40 years since The Society for Radiological Protection last launched a publication - the much respected and peer-reviewed Journal of Radiological Protection . We knew from member feedback that there was a need for a publication aimed more at practitioners , and planning for Radiation Protection Today began a few months ago . Our vision is to produce a magazine which is interesting , informative and topical , and which reflects the diversity and interests of the radiation protection community . Each issue will have regular sections covering practical radiation protection issues , items of interest including Society activities , plus more light-hearted pages and a ' back to basics ' section , in addition to several feature articles . It will be made available as widely as possible , and we believe it will be of value throughout the radiation protection community and its allied fields , and indeed to anyone with an interest in the profession .

Putting together the first issue from scratch was always going to be a challenge , and we would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment which has made this possible . The Editorial Team are all volunteer SRP members from a range of sectors , scientific backgrounds and ages , helping to ensure that the magazine is representative of the profession . We also thank our advertisers ; their support for this new project is very much appreciated .
As with any new publication , there will always be areas for improvement , so we actively encourage you to get in touch with any suggestions for improvements , parts you have liked about the magazine and article suggestions . We also invite readers to ask or reply to questions on radiation protection issues via the ' Ask SRP ' section . Our address is RPToday @ srp-uk . org .
We hope you enjoy this Launch Issue of Radiation Protection Today and we welcome all feedback . By working together , and listening to your views , the aim is to see this magazine progress from strength to strength . Pete Bryant CRadP MSRP - SRP President Trevor Jones MSRP - Editor
