The International Radiation Protection Association is the international voice of the radiation protection profession . It promotes the worldwide enhancement of professional competence and radiation protection culture , and encourages the application of the highest standards of professional conduct , skills and knowledge .
IRPA is one of the four international pillars of radiation protection .
All members of SRP are automatically members of IRPA and receive relevant news and information via SRP Weekly , the member e-newsletter .

SRP is the UK Associate Society member of IRPA . In order to ensure that there is a coordinated view from all the UK societies with an interest in radiation protection SRP acts as a coordinator through its Committee for Liaison with IRPA and Partner Societies ( CLIPS ). SRP has six Partner Societies .

The IRPA World Congress is held every four years and the next will be held in Florida in May 2024 .
The IRPA European Congress is also held every four years and the next will be in Budapest in May 2022 .

AURPO
One of SRP ' s six Partner Societies ( see above ) is the Association of University Radiation Protection Officers which is 60 years old this year – two years older than SRP .
AURPO ' s members come mainly from universities and similar establishments involved in the training of undergraduates and graduates in the fields of science , engineering and medicine . Its principal aim is to increase knowledge and understanding of radiation protection through the promotion and interchange of information .
