National Tennis Manager of Greenwich Lei-sure Limited to be a featured speaker at ‘ Tennis Economics ’, the Business of Tennis Forum presented by the Tennis Industry Association UK Tuesday April 4th 2017 at The Queen ’ s Club , London Sponsored by the LTA
Barry Cawte will speak at the Forum on the role GLL is playing in the growth of ten-nis and its relationship with the LTA to achieve mutual goals . Barry ’ s presentation will take delegates on his journey from turning around the doomed Swansea Tennis Centre to overseeing the largest publically operated tennis estate in the UK , provid-ing an insight into the ‘ business of tennis ’ fundamentals he has used along the way and the aspirations of GLL for tennis going-forward . The theme of the 2017 Business of Tennis Forum is ‘ Tennis Economics ’ and will be attended by many of the key decision makers and infl uential leaders within the sport . The annual Business of Tennis Forum is the only event that provides insight on the UK tennis economy and provides delegates with new solutions , products and ser-vices to help grow and improve their tennis businesses . The 2017 event is sponsored by the LTA and illustrates the importance the govern-ing body places on its relationship with the wider tennis industry and the desire to bring fresh thinking and new ideas to help grow the sport . The event is at The Queen ’ s Club , London on Tuesday April 4th 2017 from 12 noon and tickets are limited to 100 delegates .
Miringoff Named K-Swiss ' Global Tennis Director
K-Swiss has appointed Mike Miringoff as its global director of tennis , responsible for all aspects of the performance tennis business in North America , including sales , marketing and product . He joins K-Swiss from Wilson , where he spent the last fi ve years in Shanghai , China , as Asia Pacifi c region commercial manager .
Gardner Mulloy Passes Away Tennis legend and Hall of Famer Gardnar Mulloy passed away on Nov . 14 . He was 102 years old . A three-time NCAA champion at the University of Miami , Mulloy was ranked in the
U . S . Top 10 every year from 1939 through 1954 , save for the two years he served in the Navy during World War II . He reached No . 1 in 1952 . Mulloy won fi ve Grand Slam men ’ s doubles crowns and was a singles fi nalist at Forest Hills in 1952 . He won his last major title in 1957 at age 43 , partnering with Budge Patty to claim the Wimbledon men ’ s doubles . He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1972 .
As a senior player , Mulloy won titles well into his 80s . Today , the ITF ’ s Super Senior World Team Championship ’ s Gardnar Mulloy Cup is for players 80-and-over . “ A feisty and fi ery competitor and one of our sport ’ s most passionate proponents , Gardnar truly left an indelible mark on the sport that he so loved ,” said USTA President Katrina Adams .
