ADVANTAGE AIR ENTERS FIRE SAFETY MARKET WITH SABS- CERTIFIED FIRE DAMPERS

By Eamonn Ryan
Advantage Air was one of the more than 150 exhibitors at FRIGAIR 2025, a platform they used to good effect to introduce new products on the South African market.

After more than three decades of consistent growth in the HVAC sector, AdvantageAir is stepping into a new chapter. The South African-born, Australianestablished company has announced the launch of a new line of SABS-certified fire dampers, marking a significant expansion in its product offering and its strategic move to broaden market presence.

Founded over 32 years ago by two South Africans who began the venture in Australia before bringing operations back to home soil, AdvantageAir has made its name manufacturing quality HVAC components. From grilles and diffusers to flexible ducting, the company has built a name in southern Africa’ s HVAC industry, with manufacturing facilities located in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
At the forefront of their current strategy is the introduction of fire dampers, a product line that only recently received SABS accreditation. As Advantage Air director, Johan Joubert, explains:
“ This is a brand-new arm of the business. We received our SABS accreditation earlier this year( 2025) and are now focusing on getting the product into the market. We’ re using industry expos and face-to-face marketing to connect with engineers, architects and contractors.”
The timing couldn ' t be more fitting, as fire safety and compliance standards become increasingly stringent in the region. Advantage Air is betting on its longstanding reputation for service excellence and reliable delivery to help it carve out space in this highly regulated niche.
But Advantage Air isn’ t just expanding into fire safety – it ' s also keeping sustainability and energy efficiency at the core of its innovations. One of its standout offerings is a simplified Building Management System( BMS) tailored for light commercial and residential buildings.

consumption.“ It targets only the areas that need cooling, rather than over-supplying. That translates to real energy savings and improved environmental outcomes,” says Joubert.
This move reflects broader industry trends that prioritise green building practices and smarter infrastructure.
Despite a challenging economic landscape, Advantage Air has managed year-on-year growth— a testament to its strong client relationships and consistent delivery standards.“ Service is everything. Clients keep coming back because we deliver quality products at the right price— and on time,” says Joubert.
Its route to market relies on longstanding relationships with engineers, architects and contractors, many of whom have worked with the company for decades. As Advantage Air introduces fire dampers into its already comprehensive lineup and continues promoting energy-efficient systems, Joubert claims its trajectory shows no signs of slowing. " With over 30 years of industry experience, a strong manufacturing foundation, and a sharp focus on innovation, I ' m confident that we ' re poised to make a significant impact in both the fire safety and smart HVAC segments of the market."
