By SAIRAC – CT
SAIRAC Cape Town hosted the 69th Annual General Meeting on
21 July 2020.
The meeting was held via the Zoom online platform with
Louis Vermeulen (SAIRAC Cape Town Committee Chairman)
hosting the event, and esteemed Guest Speaker, Pieter Malan
from WesternAire, offering a technical talk thereafter on the basic
overview of chilled water systems.
The agenda for the 69 th Annual General meeting was as follows:
• Welcome
• Apologies
• Obituaries
• Confirmation of the 2019 AGM minutes
• Chairman’s Report
• Treasurer’s Report
• Exiting Committee 2019
• Nominations Received

Welcoming all attending members to the SAIRAC 69 th Annual
General Meeting, Louis Vermeulen highlighted the achievements,
technical talks and social events hosted by SAIRAC Cape Town for
2019, as well as highlighting the coming events for 2020, through
the chairman’s report.
As with all industries within South Africa, a strong emphasis was
placed on the impact which the Covid-19 pandemic has had to the
HVAC industry, as well as the impact it has had on SAIRAC Cape
Town and the associated services offered, such as the technical
talks and other social events for 2020.
In response to these troubling times, SAIRAC Cape Town has
re-assured its members that the supportive role which SAIRAC
offers to the industry, and the technical talks frequently hosted, will
continue and will be hosted via the online platform for the coming
months. The technical talks offered are essential to the upliftment
of the industry and the professionals working within our industry,
to which offering their services via an online platform will enable
convenient services whilst being able to practice social distancing
and safe interaction between SAIRAC and its valued members.
Unfortunately, social events such as the Annual SAIRAC golf
day and annual luncheon have been placed on hold until further
notice, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and associated health risks.
These events will be reviewed in coming months, and further
communication will follow as to when these events may be
hosted again.
