Today, the company can boldly call themselves specialists in services including heat transfer, separations, and fluid handling. Nicholas Newman, MD of South Africa, gave a short history of its presence locally. “The first Alfa Laval office was registered in 1920 in Durban. By 1929 over 120 milking machine plants had been supplied. Over the past 100 years the company has experienced many successes across a wide range of industries covering, fishing, sugar ethanol, wine, fruit juice, power, and mining. As we evolved and expanded, branches where opened in Cape Town and South Africa, factories for local manufacturing and warehouses for stock and spare parts. The evolution of Alfa Laval has seen many innovations, acquisitions and investments. Our presence now includes Angola and Kenya with numerous business partners ensuring our presence across the African continent.” He feels particularly proud of the success of the company and is grateful to staff, customers and business partners. “This celebration doesn’t only focus on celebrating our proud past, our focus is on our future as well. We look forward to a new era of growth to come,” he concluded.
