AHI CARRIER HOSTS TOSHIBA ‘ FEEL THE CHANGE ’ EVENT

AHI Carrier hosted a Toshiba ‘ Feel the Change ’ event for clients and other roleplayers on 11 April 2024 in Johannesburg , following a similar event in Cape Town on 9 April 2024 .

A global product & solutions development manager Harris Prousaloglou , interspersed with presentations by Beswent Bester , specifying engineer and head of technical at AHI Carrier South Africa ; Mark Redgard , general manager at AHI Carrier ; and Naas Massyn , Toshiba HVAC sales manager – inland at AHI Carrier .
The event opened with a half hour comedy session by comedian Barry Hilton .
In a series of presentations that will be expanded upon in subsequent issues of RACA Journal , Prousaloglou reviewed new equipment being launched by Toshiba worldwide to adapt to environmental shifts and accommodate the emergence of novel refrigerants entering the market . But beyond unveiling technical advancements , the presentation delved into the broader context of industry trends and the imperative to address climate change .
Acknowledging the reality of climate change , the presentation commenced with a candid observation : the world ' s climate is undergoing significant transformations . Supporting this assertion with compelling evidence , the speakers highlighted temperature anomalies across the globe . Over the past six decades , average temperatures have steadily deviated from historical norms , with a notable increase of approximately 1.5 ° C in the last 20 years alone . This trend is alarming , signalling a clear imperative for action .

The recent years have witnessed a surge in global efforts to address climate change , culminating in critical conferences such as COP28 . Amid intense deliberations and negotiations , the consensus emerged with a resounding call to action : to maintain global warming within the 1.5 ° C range , drastic measures must be taken by nations , continents and the global community collectively .
