SARACCA MAKES STRIDES IN NAMIBIA
SARACCA ' s recent training programme delivers promising results as it unveils a new certification and reclamation centre .
The Southern African Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Contractors Association ( SARACCA ) recently concluded a comprehensive training programme aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of technicians within the SADC region .
Addressing the duration of the training , SARACCA NEC member Hennie Basson states : " The training held over four days , featured a balanced curriculum comprising two days of theoretical sessions followed by two days of practical handson training ."
With participants hailing from five countries in the SADC region , including 15 male and four female technicians , the training showcased a high level of engagement and enthusiasm among the attendees . " The group demonstrated exceptional eagerness to learn and actively participated in all aspects of the training ," says Basson .
In conjunction with the training programme , SARACCA unveiled plans for the establishment of a Certification and Reclamation Centre in Odgedewa , Namibia . This facility will serve a dual purpose , acting as both a centre for processing refrigerants for recycling or destruction , and as a training facility .

Explaining the objectives of the Certification Centre , Basson emphasises SARACCA ’ s role in training technicians on the safe handling of refrigerants and certifying authorised gas practitioners within Namibia and neighbouring countries . Basson adds : " Our training programmes adhere to the South African Skills Programme , guaranteeing a consistent approach throughout the SADC region ."
In terms of monitoring progress and ensuring the effectiveness of the training , SARACCA outlines a comprehensive strategy . A dedicated SADC RAC Association database will be established to register all trainees and authorised gas practitioners across different categories .
