PERISHABLE PRODUCTS EXPORT CONTROL BOARD ( PPECB ) The Perishable Products Export Control Board ( PPECB ) is an Ensuring food safety is also high on the PPECB ' s list of independent service provider of quality certification and cold strategic focuses . Ultimately the PPECB ensures that Food chain management services for South African producers and Business Operators ( FBOs ) comply with the standards exporters of perishable products . The PPECB is constituted and regarding food hygiene and food safety of regulated mandated in terms of the PPEC Act No 9 of 1983 to perform agricultural food products intended for export . cold chain services . The PPECB also delivers inspection and food safety services under the APS Act No 119 of 1990 .
PPECB inspectors , stationed across South Africa , deliver end-point inspection services on over 200 perishable product types destined for export at over 1 500 locations . In addition , the PPECB is also responsible for South Africa ' s cold chain management and ensuring that products for export are handled , stored , and transported at specific temperatures and optimum conditions . Cold chain services provided by the organisation include the inspection and approval of equipment such as containers , specialised reefer vessels and cold stores ; overseeing loading processes and en route temperature management of produce .
