After the presentation, contractors raised concerns and issues
that Defy highlighted they will look into and resolve. A pressing
issue was the absence of servicing the unit often by clients as this
meant the client would lose out on their warranty should they fail
to service the unit regularly. “To curb this predicament, we are in
the process of launching an AC unit registration function where
the unit will be loaded on our system with the client’s details
populated so as to inform them when the unit is due for service.
We do also encourage contractors to emphasise the importance
of servicing units to clients,” said Tommy Gounden, regional
service manager.
Attendees were treated to a tour of the showroom that
featured all the Defy appliances. Guests had the chance to fiddle
around with the AC units on demo. After the tour guests enjoyed
refreshments and took the opportunity to network. RACA

Defy held a two-day product launch for contractors and
clients in October.
Held at the Defy showroom in Midrand last year, guests had
a chance to experience the different ranges and learn more
about what Defy is changing in relaunching commercial air
conditioning units.
Craig Naude, manager for the air conditioning range kicked
things off by welcoming everyone, introducing the team and
sharing the proceedings for the day. He played a video of some of
the ranges available. Defy locally manufactures all its appliances,
with plants in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. Naude shares
that this was one aspect that made Defy attractive to the Koç
Group, a Turkish company that bought them in 2011. Koç Group
manufactures and mass produces similar appliances globally.
In relaunching commercial air conditioners, Naude believes
that with a market share of over 30%, they are confident that
