Associations SAIRAC HONOURS FELLOWS AT ANNUAL LUNCH By Ilana Koegelenberg The SAIRAC Johannesburg centre’s Annual Fellows Lunch was a not-to-be-missed event on the 2018 social calendar, celebrating the association’s most loyal members and their contribution to the industry. T he 2018 fellows lunch took place on 19 October at the Woodmead Country Club in Johannesburg and boasted a great turnout as usual. This event is always a calendar highlight for the South African Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (SAIRAC), as it gives members a chance to reconnect at the end of a year. SAIRAC Johannesburg centre chairman, Jaco Pieterse, kicked things off with a few formalities and welcomes before introducing the guest speaker for the day, Piet Pompies, who did a motivational talk and entertained guests with some songs as well. Afterwards, Pieterse handed over the gifts to the fellows in attendance: biltong cutters with a SAIRAC plaque. Seven of the nine regional fellows were in attendance and the total attendance for the event was 74. Out of the 15 fellows, seven were in attendance. The fellows who received gifts were: Annemarie Wake; Kathy Sharp; Grand Laidlaw; Patrick Burke; Colin Kelly; Allan Curry; and Alec Johannsen. After the gift giving, Pompies sang a few more songs before the buffet lunch was served. The entertainment continued throughout the luncheon.
