As re-elected chapter president , Olu Soluade had the opportunity to share a few words . “ The mission of the society remains to serve humanity by advancing the arts and sciences of heating , ventilation , air conditioning , and refrigeration . It is critical for us to realise that we , who are sitting here now , need to make sure that quality is enhanced in whatever we do . We are going to continue with the mission and the vision of the society with the core values the society talks about : commitment , integrity , excellence , diversity , volunteerism , and collaboration . This is also to form part of our goals and objectives .”
Soluade continued , “ The society put together three goals and objectives . The first is knowledge resources for a sustainable high-performance built environment , goal two is to maximise the member value and engagement , and third is the organisational structure to maximise performance . Last year ’ s theme was team – Together , Each Achieving More – and one of the key things that we have discovered is that when we have a united outlook and we have all hands on deck , this generates inevitable success . Now we can look towards our five-year strategic plan . Everything we do together now will not only be of value to the 21 / 22 society year , but for everything in future

we need to achieve to make a difference . This we must do as servants for the industry because this is ultimately what we have signed up for – and as servant leaders we receive the reward of satisfaction in a job well done at the end of the day and where you have been a support to others . This is not an individual effort and requires a collective to achieve .”
Next on the agenda was the installation of the student council that was carried out by Richard Humphrey , chapter president elect . The new student members were welcomed to the society that currently has over 56 000 members . Advice was shared with them in terms of their roles of volunteerism to better society and their career growth as pioneers of the committee .
