ASHRAE Column DAY 2: COMMENCEMENT OF THE TECHNICAL SESSIONS: 2 FEBRUARY The technical sessions commenced, with various learning tracks available to the attendees as well as the general tours to various interesting sites. As the GAC Chair, I went to the Kennedy Space Centre (KSC) on the second day. KSC Main Entrance. The drive from Orlando to KSC. The control room display at KSC. Signage for the KSC. The Apollo set up at KSC. DAY 3: COMMENCEMENT OF THE AHR EXPO AND CONTINUATION OF THE TECHNICAL SESSIONS: 3 FEBRUARY The technical sessions on day 3 provided some very interesting topics for the attendees to choose from. In particular, the following sessions were attended: Main Entrance to KSC. The key takeaway on this technical tour is the divine wisdom given to us and the capacity to create like our Creator. What a privilege! The quote that resonates for me from the tour of the space centre regarding our type of business is: ‘failure is not an option’. www.hvacronline.co.za Seminar 26: ASHRAE/REHVA Guidebook towards zero energy hospital buildings This session provided us with the trend and the scope of the development of the new guidebook between ASHRAE and the Federation of European Heating and Air-Conditioning Associations (REHVA) unpacking real case studies of the use in the industry. As South Africa and Africa are moving towards sustainability, this is something to explore further. RACA Journal I April 2020 69
