FORWARD
R2R Green Space uniquely offered the opportunity for
primary school students to experience and participate in an
interactive knowledge building process that raised their
environmental awareness, validated their environmental
experiences
and
engaged
them
to
participate
in
environmental - action activities. Students were introduced
to environmental concepts using a six tier module:
1.) 3 R’s
2.) bio-diversity and animal habitats
3.) ecosystems
4.) waste management
5.) ocean conservation
6.) community action
Students were exposed to topics of habitats, wetlands, endangered animals, predators and their food sources, ecology of coral reefs and associated
threats including abc’s of climate change. They were also encouraged to participate in environmental advocacy while their parents supported them
through the creation of environmental signs for public consumption and sharing of folklore environmental traditions.
