Nylon-MXD6 is one of the crystalline polyamide resins, which is produced
through polycondensation of meta-xylylene diamine (MXDA) with adipic acid.
Meta-xylylene diamine (MXDA) is a meta-xylene derivative, which can be
produced by limited suppliers such as Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, Cargill, SHOWA
DENKO and CAC GROUP etc. Adipic acid is a common chemical product. Since
2017, price of adipic acid increase greatly, which influence Nylon-MXD6’s price.
There are two types of Nylon-MXD6, injection molding grade and extrusion
grade. Injection molding grade, mainly produced by MGC, is usually used in
packing material industry. In 2016, North America injection molding grade
Nylon-MXD6 production is 7922 tonne. Leaning on high strength performance,
extrusion grade Nylon-MXD6 is commonly used in automotive parts.
