CLUBS QUT GAME DEVELOPMENT Game development is an all-encompassing industry. Whether you study computer science, art, animation, music or any other field; you can develop your skillset through game development. QUT’s Game Development Club welcomes all with an interest in game development. During 2017 we will be providing many services and events to help you learn more about game development, improve your skills, overcome development struggles, meet and socialise with fellow developers and most importantly have fun! Presentations will be held with experienced students, graduates and even some industry professionals where they will pass on knowledge and answer any questions you may have. Workshops will be run throughout the year providing learning opportunities for all disciplines and all skill levels. Another great opportunity provided will be group development projects that bring members together to join forces and create cool games within a close knit and supportive team. The club will also have several of these development projects on display at the World Science Festival in March and at QUT Robotronica in August. We’ll be showing off our Interactive Virtual Reality projects using our HTC Vive. If you want to get involved in the development of some of these experiences, even if you’re just a beginner, come along, ask questions and get involved! Finally, we are most ecstatic to be hosting our many social events. These will be the most valuable opportunities for you to meet and make friends with fellow game developers, something that you are unlikely to find through your course classes alone. Whilst our lively bar tabs are to be expected, we will also be running play testing parties, game jams, our monthly Video Game Club (like a book club but cooler ;D) and much more. If you are interested in discovering more about the Game Development Club drop by the O-Week stall or visit a club event, details can be found on the club’s Facebook page. find out more QUTGDC [email protected] 47
