O
ur Wedding Expo is here! On January 11th and 12th, we are bringing the best
vendors in the Tri-States to the Oakley Lindsay Center. This will be our first
ever two-day show and it was inspired by a happy accident. Last year we were
faced with terrible weather on our one-and-only expo date. We considered
canceling but knew that participating vendors had put so much time and money into
preparing to meet possible new clients. We moved forward but attendance went down. We
had never experienced such a low turnout. As the evening was coming to an end, more snow
hit. We were worried about vendors and guests driving through the storm so we invited
everyone to Splash Bar at Atrium on Third for some late night snacks. There, couples and
vendors were able to get to know each other on a much better level. Some made wedding
plans that night. The next morning, we awoke to our email accounts full of messages from
disappointed couples who missed the show and from vendors who were thrilled to have had
great conversations with the few brides who made it. Here’s what we learned: providing more
opportunities for you to meet vendors means easier wedding planning, many people travel to
Quincy from surrounding towns to plan their big day, and couples and vendors are super fun
to hang out with. In that light, we expanded the show and filled the weekend with activities
for you to enjoy. Head to p. 46 for the expo schedule and plan your weekend!
Speaking of wedding vendors... our very own Sara (of QAB Mag AND Sara Elizabeth
Weddings) got hitched! We are in love with her design and flawless execution of her vision,
complete with lemons and her dog, Lemon. When wedding vendors wed, you’re in for a treat.
They know exactly how to make their guests feel spoiled and can manage to enjoy their day
while doing it. Her images by Courtney Dueppengeisser perfectly tell her story.
Check out ALL of the amazing Local Love couples who told their
wedding stories. Especially Anna and Lace on p. 10. These two
shared an intimate backyard celebration and incorporated SO
MANY story-telling details. We absolutely loved the little story
Anna told about her brother officiating AND the sweet surprise
he gave them.
To all of the couples who just got engaged...
CONGRATULATIONS! This time is so magical and we hope
you are inspired by the local engaged couples on p. 59 to
share your impending nuptials!
If this is your first time reading QAB... WELCOME to the
family. If this isn’t your first rodeo, welcome back, friend.
Here’s to an incredible 2020!
